Michigan Concealed Pistol License Class in Honor, MI
The US Concealed Carry Association Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals class, which the State of Michigan recognizes for a concealed pistol license.
What you are signing up for
One day, start to finish
Class runs at the Platte River Inn restaurant in Honor, from 9:00 AM until about 3:00 PM. Classroom instruction and the live fire range session happen the same day, and you leave with your certificate.
Beginners are the norm
No experience needed. New shooters are comfortable with a handgun by the end of the day, and experienced shooters sharpen the fundamentals they already have.
A gun if you need one
There is a range of firearms and ammunition available for you to use in class at no extra cost, so you can find out what actually fits your hands before you buy anything.

What the class covers
- Michigan firearms law and when you may use force
- Safe handling, storage and transport
- Pistol fundamentals: grip, stance and sight picture, and the reasoning behind each
- Drawing from a holster safely, which most CPL classes skip
- Live fire range session with your instructor watching your form

- Your CPL certificate, so you can apply at the county clerk

- Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals textbook, $25, not required

- State CPL application fee of $115, paid to your county when you apply, fingerprinting included
What to bring
- A valid state ID
- A pen and a good attitude
- Closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes
- Your pistol, holster and ammunition, if you have them
- A snack

At the Platte River Inn restaurant, 10921 Main St in Honor, Michigan 49640. It is a restaurant, so you can order food during the day.
When do we shoot?
The range portion is on a private range and gets scheduled with the instructor on the day of class, at a time that works around the rest of your day.
Do I need my own gun?
No. Firearms and ammunition are available for you to use in class at no extra cost. Bring your own pistol, holster and ammunition instead if you have them.
Do I need any experience?
No. Many students are shooting for the first time. You will be coached at your own pace, and questions are welcome at any point in the day.
What happens after class?
You leave with your certificate. Take it to your county clerk with the $115 application fee, submit your fingerprints, and your license arrives in the mail.
